I know this may sound absurd to some people, but I am making a post about what I do not like about GVO. I am not here to deceive anyone and I want to be totally clear on my personal thoughts about Global Virtual Opportunities. Number one, I want to state that I use GVO as my website hosting company and it has incredible features and tools for Internet Marketers in particular. In general, someone who works from home needs to purchase website hosting, autoresponders and other software for video marketing or other client tools (video conferencing software). All of those expenses add up FAST – and I know that I have wasted a lot of money in purchasing these tools over time. What I absolutely LOVE about GVO is that it has EVERYTHING for you and it is all covered in one single monthly cost of $44. I know that may seem like a lot of money to some people, but I believe it is a basic cost which will allow you to run your ENTIRE business online. It really will.
Now onto what I do not UNDERSTAND about the people who have created GVO. And when I write this, I mean no disrespect to anyone at all, as I do know many of the people involved with GVO. Personally, in my marketing experiences, it helps to not over-sell and over-hype. For me personally, I shy away from anything with the terms: MLM, Networking Marketing and similar terms. GVO’s creators are using the fact that this is a great MLM Opportunity, to sell the hosting. But I think it is not necessary to their success at all. When you signup for GVO’s website hosting and full suite of tools for your $44 a month – you are receiving an excellent deal with a trusted company. What makes me and possibly others distrust and shy away from signing up with GVO is that so much focus and emphasis is put on the OPPORTUNITY. It makes people wary and fearful of the legitimacy of GVO. MLM this, MLM that – to me I would prefer to never hear it referred to as MLM and I’d be happy! But the fact is, GVO is an awesome website host – and it does have an incredible money-making opportunity associated with it. Not everyone who signs up even cares to be a part of the money-making portion, because they may just really be in need of a website host. To those people, they don’t need to hear about all the famous marketers and gurus who are using GVO – they need to hear about the awesome features and all that they will get with their signup.
I have received emails from people who have asked me specific detailed questions about the website hosting services included in the monthly payment and the deal. These people said they felt bombarded with GVO sites pushing the MLM part so hard on them that they didn’t even understand what the company offered as a website hosting company. That is unfortunate. I think on the sales page for GVO they should clearly state every single benefit and features of the host and all the tools included. On a separate page, they could also go into depth about the money-making opportunities, which are also incredible – like icing on the cake.
In closing, I just felt it was necessary for me to post this and share my personal thoughts on that aspect of the sales process for GVO signups. I want to be clear that I personally use GVO for my business websites and with the $44 payment I can host unlimited number of domains and have a suite of tools, including: an autoresponder software to build my list, a prospecting system, a conference room, a video producer, banners and live training to help with using all the tools and the host. As a web host, I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever, and I’ve had nothing but positive experiences. Financially, I am partaking in the money-making opportunity involved by referring others to signup for GVO through my link. To be honest, I have made $1405.47 in the past 3 months from GVO. I think that is great – it more than covers the cost of my hosting, that is for sure. So, if you are reluctant to join GVO – I can assure you that the hosting company and services are totally legit and that I personally have had nothing but positive experiences. I hope that the focus of GVO and their sales process, for the sake of those promoting, will focus more on the SERVICES they are offering (which are awesome) rather than the money-making opportunity.

Holly,
You may or may not recall that I am one who has been skeptical of GVO. I said early on that the strength of GVO was in the service it provided. I personally use it and think it is a great package.
But the the money making opportunity was over sold and in the beginning a lot of mis-information was distributed. I don’t think any of the mis-information was intentional, but I am still a bit amazed that, at least I, have not seen any clear cut and precise clarifications.
If it had been me running the show, I would have immediately sent out notices to all involved saying, “Opps, we got it wrong! Our deepest apologies! Here is precisely how the compensation, affiliate system works.” While I never heard anything directly from those running GVO, some of the other leading affiliates actually told me to I was out of line to expect clarifications. They said that we had to be willing to put up with the unknowns for the opportunity to signing up so early in the game. To me, this is B.S. . . . if the exact workings of the compensation plan are not known, then something is truly amiss. If they are known then they should be easily and obviously available to all involved in a clear and easy to understand manner.
From the few clarifications I have seen, I certainly haven’t seen anything unfair. The affiliate program is still a great program for those who can actively recruit. But my way of communicating and relating to people is that I wouldn’t promote the affiliate program until it is clearly & officially defined.
I do want to echo what you have said above however. The Titanium Hosting package ($45/month) is a great value. I have had no problems (other than the iframe attacks) and everything has gone smoothly. This is how GVO should be sold, as a professional level hosting package
Garry, you are right on with every single thing you stated. I agree with you 100%. I hope Joel Therien reads this – because it is constructive, useful business advice and criticism. I think it would help his business immensely to stop focusing on the MLM stuff. But, that’s just me. Thank you Garry!
Well, I decided to stop by and see what you’ve been up to over here Holly. I regularly check some of the terms I’m optimizing for with GVO in the SE’s. I still can’t knock you out of there Miss..lol..but that’s ok.
You know, I was sort of mis-sold the GVO opportunity as well in my mind. And in some ways, it caused me to mis-represent it as well in the beginning. I agree, it was far to focused on the opportunity. I mean, sure the opportunity was made to sound completely amazing. I know many were just as excited as I was in the beginning.
I was told of course that I would see a lot of spillover because of our positioning. Well, you know..I do know some people did see a lot of spillover, but, we certainly didn’t. I now know that it’s because our upline has been to busy building their other leg in the business. So in terms of being mis-representing the opportunity and placing far to much focus on that I entirely agree.
I’m happy that some members did see some spillover as a result of our early efforts, but, I’m realizing to see major spillover (as was promised) to some people, it there really has to be a LOT of people gaining signups for the spillover to reach lower levels in the matrix.
Either way though. As you mentioned the focus needs to be on the products and services. Personally, I really do like the services that GVO offers..I really do. I like the layout of the new members area, having everything moreless at my fingertips. Undoubtedly, for all that is offered with membership it’s an incredible deal.
I’m not sure if you have been keeping up with the updates about GVO through their blog Holly, but, it sounds like your message, and perhaps others, is getting through to Joel and Mike. They are currently just about to release some new salespages which focus on the PRODUCTS, instead of the opportunity so much.
These days, I try to forget about the term MLM. I do happily promote GVO based on the quality of the service alone. They can call it whatever they want I suppose..I simply think of it as affiliate marketing with a few perks attached by being able to earn from others in the matrix. All in all though, it does add up to added profits as compared to regular affiliate marketing.
For the record, I’ve earned 1019.62 from GVO. So yes, it has more than paid for itself already by being involved. I had a lot of signups in the early beginning, but, as with a lot of things online, people assumed it would be much easier to build the business, and when they weren’t seeing “instant gratification” based on the opportunity, they would cancel their membership. Unfortunately, I suppose a lot of these people were signing up because of the “opportunity” and not the “services”.
The focus definitely needs to be on the products and services, and for everything that is offered, I really doubt anyone will ever find as much value anywhere else. Personally, I do like GVO, and will continue to proudly promote them because of the services.
Thanx for the great article Holly. It’s a great honest view, which will help many with their decision on taking advantage of GVO’s products and services.
Take care…
Dav
Thanks Davin – I agree with everything you just stated! And, I DID just take a look at the GVO blog (http://joeltherien.com) and saw the new changes that will soon take affect on the sales page for GVO! I am SOOOO Happy! They are obviously keeping tabs on what others are saying and taking it to heart. That makes it easier for us to promote, as the new sales page focuses totally on the services offered and not just on MLM or the money-making part. They also changed the term MLM to affiliate marketing or something similar – very smart!
To me, their money-making opportunity is almost just a twist on affiliate marketing. Maybe we’re focusing too much on the label – but some (like MLM) don’t have great reputations associated with it. Anyway, thanks so much Davin for stopping by here. I’m not sure why or how my site here has such a high ranking in the search engines – but of course it’s a great thing!
